Blogpost Quarter 3 #5

This week in Physics we learned about ohms and how there is resistance in current systems.  We also learned how energy will always choose the path of the least resistance.  After we learned how to draw schematic diagrams and how to solve different equations.  For parallel systems we learned about how the amps split in parallel systems while they stay the same though circits that are wired in series.  While circuts are wired in parallel the amps split between each path that is created by the wire.  In parallel circuts the voltages stay constant while voltages in the series will change as it goes though each resistor.

Blogpost Quarter 3 #4

This week in physics we are just learning all of the differnt equations for the unit.  We learned ohms law and why it works.  We also started to touch on what parallel and seirers wiring is.  We are also learning about ampameters and how the work and how to use them.  We are also learning all of the different setting and how to measure resistance and voltage.  With the lab we learned that wring in serires will make the voltage drops across the enire system stay the same.  When wired in series the amps will be devied throughout the entire system and then the light bulbs may be dimmer when more are added in the system

Energy Savings

I asked my parents about saving our energy bill, my dad told me that it wont make much of a differnce because we have seven people in our house and he has just added more photovoltaic panels on top of our roof.  The bill that I brought to class was from september and since then he said that we have added one more set of panels to our roof.  My dad told me that our energy bill is arround eighty dollars.  I think that it isn't that bad considering my brother runs his ac all night, we have 4 refridgerators, and all of our rooms have ac.  In my house we also use solar water and propane fore our stoves and dryer.  My dad tries to consierve as much energy as he can because he says that the energy prices are just going to rise continuesly.

Blogpost Quarter 3 #2

This week in physics we mainly reviewed the lesson that we were learning.  I don't think that I really prepared well for upcoming test that is on tuesday.  I think that the equations will be the easy part of the test while the unit concepts are going to be challenging for me.  On the PA I had a hard time on problems 9 and 10.  I was wondering how do you find h, m, q, and g while it doesn't give you any numbers to start off with.  Although I feel that the free body diagram is pretty easy to draw the challenging part is knowing where there is an electrical force.

Quarter 3 #1

This week in Physics we are learning about positive and negative charges.  When doing the lab I realized that when applying friction to something it becomes charged.  Weather it becomes a postitive or negative we do not know.  I was wondering if there was a way to tell what the tapes were charged while doing the lab.  Me and Joe tried to put it to a postitive end of a battery to see if there would an attraction or a repelling effect on the tape.  It turned out that it didn't matter weather the positive end or the negative end of the battery, the tape was attracted to both sides.  I also learned that when touching the tape it regains a neutral charge because our bodies take away or give that extra electron to bring the charge of the tape back to neutral.

Final Blog Post Quarter 2

This past semister I have learned a lot in physics.  Starting from the first quarter we learned about velocity and acceleration.  I think that I had the easiest time on this subject.  We also learned how gravity affected the way things fall.  We also learned the two formulas that you can use to find distance velocity or the time.  The equations were d-1/2at^2+Vot and V=Vo+at.  We also learned how to make sense of velocity time graphs and acceleration time graphs.  We then moved on to vectors and the "breku" technique.  We also leaned SOH-CAH-TOA to solve the vector problems.  Now moving to the second quarter we started with the expo pen lab.  We then learned how momentum and other forces played on objects.  After we then learned how to draw diagrams that described all of the forces that act upon an object.  The next unit we moved on to learning what Newtons were.  We also learned about Newton's laws and why how momentum is always conserved.  Close to the end of the quarter we did the egg drop.  This was a lab to see how well we understood all of the Physics that we had learned during the second quarter.  Luckly my partner and I's egg had survived.  Now we are learning about energy's which is very similar to our unit of momentum.

blogpost Quarter 2 #8

This week in physics we are learning about work and energy.  The major concept that I had to grasp was that energy is always conserved.  No matter what the case PE will always equal KE or PEs.  This has helped me with my take home quiz because you need to know this concept in order to solve the problems.  We also are learning about the springs and the spring constant.  Although since we don't live in a perfect world energy is not always conserved.  Since there is air friction an object's energy isn't always conserved.
